WACE Results 2025: WA ATAR Outcomes, Top Scores and Key Insights

Thousands of Western Australian Year 12 students have now received their 2025 WACE and ATAR results, marking the completion of their secondary schooling and the beginning of the next phase of education, training or employment.

According to the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre (TISC), 10,265 students achieved an ATAR in 2025, a slight increase on 2024, reflecting steady participation in university-entry pathways across the state.

Top ATAR Results in Western Australia (2025)

For 18 students, the release of results delivered the highest possible outcome, with an ATAR of 99.95, placing them among the very top achievers in the state.

Among large-enrolment WACE courses, the highest median ATARs were recorded in:

  • Mathematics Specialist – 97.00

  • Mathematics Methods – 92.55

  • Chemistry – 90.80

  • Physics – 90.60

  • Literature – 88.95

These results reinforce the strong alignment between advanced mathematics, science and humanities subjects and high ATAR outcomes in Western Australia.

Strong Demand and Engagement on Results Day

Student demand for results was immediate. Within minutes of release, hundreds of students logged into the TISC system to check their outcomes, with activity quickly rising into the thousands, highlighting the significance of the ATAR release for WA school leavers.

School leaders across Western Australia acknowledged the resilience, discipline and perseverance shown by the Class of 2025, particularly in navigating academic pressure, long-term assessment programs and post-school decision-making.

ATAR Is One Pathway, Not the Only One

While the ATAR remains a key mechanism for university admission, education leaders reiterated that it is one of several pathways into tertiary study.

Universities increasingly consider a range of entry options alongside ATARs, including:

  • Alternative qualifications

  • Portfolio-based entry

  • Auditions or aptitude tests

  • Bridging and enabling programs

This reflects the broader design of the WACE system, which supports diverse student goals and post-school destinations.

Supporting Students Beyond Results Day

Educators and wellbeing experts emphasised that ATAR release day can bring mixed emotions for students and families. While some celebrate strong results, others may feel disappointed or uncertain.

The key message remains consistent across the sector: there are multiple routes to long-term success, and a single result does not define a student’s potential or future outcomes.

What Happens Next for WA Students

The first major round of WA university offers will be released shortly, with students encouraged to seek guidance from schools, universities or TISC if they are unsure about next steps or alternative pathways.

For many students, the 2025 WACE results represent not an endpoint, but a transition into further education, training or employment in an increasingly flexible tertiary landscape.
